Implementation Q & A

When you first implemented blended learning, why did you choose that particular model? (has your model changed? why?)

Our blended learning model is based on the foundation of personalized learning. Although we know that personalized learning is the end goal of our efforts, blended learning is the transition that bridges traditional teaching with a more student-centered learning environment.

What was one of your biggest challenges when going blended, and how did you overcome it?

The biggest challenge that has been encountered has been helping teachers to become comfortable with the idea of changing practice. Most teachers know that change is needed, but many are reluctant to make changes without knowing the outcome. It has also been challenging helping students to become the authors and owners of their own educational experience.

What's the one piece of advice you'd give to emerging blended-learning programs?

Learn to iterate when needed, even if the time is relatively short. Be prepared to change! Ensure that students understand the process and have them drive the determination of success. After all, they are our customers.
