School Overview

Impact Academy is a virtual school that serves about 600 secondary school students in Henry County, Ga. Upon realizing that many students from Henry County School District were choosing to enroll in the statewide virtual charter school, district leaders recognized that students needed and desired a virtual education option and were determined to offer a superior virtual school for Henry County students by including a face-to-face component in the students’ learning. Impact Academy was thus created to offer students an Enriched Virtual option; in this setting, students have opportunities to supplement their online education with a variety of formative face-to-face experiences. By participating in cafe sessions with teachers, guided learning projects, and/or field experiences, virtual students have the ability to supplement and improve their educational experience with physical interaction. The leaders of Impact Academy strongly believe that the school’s model allows all students who are unsatisfied with their traditional school experience—from those that struggle to those that particularly excel–to personalize and improve their learning in this customizable Enriched Virtual model.
