Implementation Q & A

What was one of your biggest challenges when going blended, and how did you overcome it?

The personalized, inquiry-based learning model at KM Global does not fit into the structure of traditional classes. In order to maintain our unique learning model, we chose to use online classes. With this system, students can select their courses based on their inquiry projects, which allows them to focus on their inquiries and take full classes.

School Overview

KM Global, a public charter school in the Kettle Moraine School District that serves 60 students in grades 9-12, seeks to cultivate a global perspective through academic excellence, active engagement, and development of leadership identity. The innovative personalized learning design at KM Global is based on four pillars: global perspective, leadership, field experience, and academic excellence through standards-based learning. At KM Global, almost every aspect of the traditional high school experience has been reimagined: students create their own schedules under the guidance of advisors; subject-specific cohorts replace age-based classes; students create, develop, and defend rigorous personal learning projects; and online content and resources provide flexibility and foster ownership in each student's learning.
