Our parents have the ability to see student progress on a daily basis and that has increased not only our parent awareness of their student, but also a request to blend more subjects more often.
At CICS West Belden, the teachers bring parents in really early as they develop individualized learning plans. They flip conferences, having parents provide input to plans (asking questions rather than reporting out), share google docs with project plans, etc. This engagement really helps to set up investment from the start.<http://practices.learningaccelerator.org/strategies/families-as-learning-partners
