Implementation Q & A

When you first implemented blended learning, why did you choose that particular model? (has your model changed? why?)

We have been using flipped classroom since we started work with projects in 1998, but we didn't know that it was called "Flipped Classroom".
In 2015 we were learning more about it and were also able to intensify the Portuguese classes and work with the 3rd Grade's Project using the flipped classroom method, achieving great results.
At the end of 2016, we met Lemman Foundation and all the teachers did the Blended Learning Online Course from this institute. We then agreed that the Rotation Station was better for our classes.

What was one of your biggest challenges when going blended, and how did you overcome it?

When we first implemented this work, in February, some teachers wanted to give up, because it was different and some children didn't understand the work. We overcame it with perseverance and unconditional support to the teachers every time that they were feeling discouraged.

What's the one piece of advice you'd give to emerging blended-learning programs?

You should study a lot and believe that Blended Learning transforms students, teachers and the school for better!

School Overview

Located in the Metropolitan Area of Curitiba, the Project / Lápis de Cor School offers educational services for almost 400 students.
Even though we are located in a low-income neighborhood in the city of Curitiba, we always believe that the insertion of modern technological alternatives depends much more on creativity, unity and study of what financial resources so that we can maintain innovative pedagogical proposals with affordable costs, without overcharging families, as it would be expected.
We always work with projects, new technologies and gamification in school daily routine and recently the concept of Blended Learning has united all these methodologies making the classes more dynamics and interdisciplinary.
In our school, Blended Learning involves the use of technologies focused on the personalization of teaching and learning actions.
In addition, this approach presents practices involving online and face-to-face environments that can create a transformative potential in education.
