Implementation Q & A

When you first implemented blended learning, why did you choose that particular model? (has your model changed? why?)

Blended learning is the perfect hybrid program to achieve the goals of our parents.

What was one of your biggest challenges when going blended, and how did you overcome it?

Since we are in our pilot year for school year 2017-2018, our biggest challenge has been getting things off the ground. The initial students and their families have been instrumental in defining and refining the program.

What's the one piece of advice you'd give to emerging blended-learning programs?

Begin with baby steps, and ensure that the first entry point is successful. By doing this, the students and the and parents will actually insist on incorporating more student-centered, personalized, and blended courses.

Select up to two focus areas you feel that you demonstrate leadership in, and tell us why here:

Our founders have over 40 years combined experience working with students as instructional coaches and tutors, specializing in personalized and competency-based instructional methods. In addition to Marigold Learning, our director is a Professional Learning Specialist delivering professional development for a robust, multimodal, hands-on science program, as well as a graduate in Education Studies from a competency-based university.

School Overview

We are creating a unique framework from which a new type of educational model will emerge. Marigold Learning is taking the best from online curriculum, homeschooling, OER, microcredentialing, MOOCs, and Co-Op models to craft a personalized, student driven learning experience.

We do not provide FRL, ELL, or student ethnicity data because at Marigold Learning, we don't require this data from our students. Although we take into consideration the economic, language, ethnicity, and cultural conditions of a student, we choose not to use this information to define a student.
