Implementation Q & A

When you first implemented blended learning, why did you choose that particular model? (has your model changed? why?)

Teacher selected right now.

What was one of your biggest challenges when going blended, and how did you overcome it?

Workable devices but now we have invested in some great ones. We got rid of a stationary lab and went portable.

What's the one piece of advice you'd give to emerging blended-learning programs?

Start slow, think big!

Select up to two focus areas you feel that you demonstrate leadership in, and tell us why here:

Obtaining devices and a simulation lab, getting training set up for the staff.

School Overview

Layton Elementary is a public elementary school serving students in K-6th grades. We also have a Title I preschool in the building. We are a Title I school with about 41% of our students receiving free or reduced lunch. We have about 592 students in our school.

We have iPad mini-labs in all grades with a shared laptop cart for 1st and 2nd grades; 20 laptops in each 3rd grade class; 1:1 laptops for grades 4-6. We also have a stationary lab which doubles as an InfidiD Lab for simulated learning which will open soon. Our teachers use technology everyday. We are beginning to implement some blended learning in our classrooms with station rotations and an ala carte model
