Snow Canyon High School: Students used the online courses for additional options to create schedules where they could take time out of their school day to enroll in college courses. Online courses free up a student's schedule so that students have more options and flexibility.
Getting into the schools and funding were the two biggest challenges. The district created a funding opportunity for schools that made it cheaper to share seats throughout the district than for schools to purchase their own seats. Schools then give a flat 7th to pay for the original content courses and 4000.00 per school to pay for the recovery courses.
Work together as a district to create options which support student engagement. Also by working together as a school within a district costs are spread out throughout the district and are substantially less than if a school was to take on this project on their own.
Snow Canyon High School was founded in 1994 to meet the demands of a growing community near St. George, Utah. It had a high graduation rate, but school leaders wanted students to have more options for original-content courses, as well as recovery-content courses, to help students make the most of their high school academic experience.

In 2012-2013 Utah used the Utah Criterion-Referenced Test (CRT) to test students in grades 2 through 11 in Language Arts, in grades 2 through 8 in Math, in grades 4 through 8 in Science and upon completion of certain courses in grades 8 through 11. The CRT is a standards-based testing program, which means it measures specific skills defined for each grade by the state of Utah. The goal is for all students to score at or above the proficient level.
